No, don’t worry, the village did not run out of coffee though we are running very low on some of our favourite biscuits. The jam is also getting perilously close and the clotted cream is down to one last pot. On that note, we want to talk about a new development that you can use to help us top up the village coffers.
Karl has been working so hard to chronicle the village’s major news stories. He does work hard, bless him, learning to create book covers, and improving his writing, editing and marketing to drive interest in our peculiar little village. But now some residents have convinced him to also chronicle events from their past and poor Karl is getting overwhelmed. Simply, our funds aren’t stretching as much as we’d like.
In a bid to raise funds for our creative efforts, we opened an account on a site called Buy Me A Coffee. Did you enjoy A Salmonweird Lockdown or the spooky tale from Jowan called The Crypt? Would you like to read more short stories? Future short stories will appear on Buy Me A Coffee. In fact, there is already one short story on the site. It’s called Curse of the Storm Harpy and it recounts the time Harry came across a cursed ship.
We don’t want readers to feel obliged in any way to pay for content beyond buying the books. Therefore, we operate on a voluntary donation basis – I guess it’s a type of tipping or crowdfunding. You can pay whatever you like, with a minimum spend of £5, about the same price as a coffee and slice of cake in The King’s Head.
Karl is in the pub a lot at the moment, interviewing residents, making notes and doing his best to tell their stories. So if you can, please help him out!
